Olympic Athlete Rebecca Adlington Driven To Plastic Surgery By Online Bullies

Apparently, even Olympic gold-medalists aren’t immune to a little insecurity every now and then. Retired swimmer Rebecca Adlington, who won two bronze medals in 2012’s London Olympics, and two gold medals in the 2008 Olympics, secretly got a nose job at a plastic surgery clinic in London, and the 25-year-old looks better than ever! Rebecca has always been candid about the struggles she faced growing up with what she called a “very big nose,” and the negative comments that she has endured over the years. One controversial comedian even went so far as to say, “[Rebecca Adlington] looks like someone who’s looking at themselves in the back of a spoon,” and jokingly worried that she would have an “unfair advantage in the swimming by possessing a dolphin’s face.” Thanks to a quickie nose job, the size of Rebecca’s nose has been slightly reduced and the bump has been removed.

Rebecca Adlington most recently discussed possibly undergoing plastic surgery last year, when she broke down in tears on the set of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! During a revealing interview, the 25-year-old said, “Every day I look in the mirror and go, ‘God, I’m not pretty. I’ve got a very big nose.'” And she’s not the only one who thought so. According to Rebecca, some of the more mean-spirited comments she has received regarding her nose include: “Oh God you look like a dolphin,” or “I didn’t realize they let whales into the Olympics, but at least you should be able to swim faster.” Not only are these people mean and offensive, but they aren’t very original either if you ask us.

The results of Rebecca Adlington’s nose job are noticeable, but not over done:

According to Rebecca, she never had an opportunity to get a nose job in the past because of her rigorous training schedule, which only alloted two weeks off a year, which would not be enough to fully heal from rhinoplasty surgery. She did say at the time of the interview that if she ever underwent plastic surgery she would have her nose straightened, “but it’s really got to suit your face,” she noted. Judging by pictures of Rebecca heading out to meet friends in Chesire this week, she has definitely had her nose straightened and the bump removed thanks to a nose job, but fortunately didn’t go overboard with a drastic procedure that completely altered her appearance. The fresh-faced blonde, who is marrying swimmer Harry Needs this summer, looks happier than ever and hopefully won’t have to endure any more cruel taunts about her appearance in the future.
